RE Cares'18: First RE Cares Workshop and Event RE Cares About Giving Back to Alberta

RE Cares aims to bring the attendees of the world's largest gathering of requirements researchers and requirements engineers, the International Requirements Engineering Conference (RE), together with the stakeholders interested in developing software addressing important societal needs. This initiative came out of our observation that stakeholders interested in development of such software applications often have no easy access to software engineers to work with them. Along with the theme of the RE 2018 conference to cross the boundaries and motivated by the discussions during the RE 2017 Silver Jubilee presentation [7], RE Cares is a new undertaking to apply our RE and Software Engineering expertise to helping build software for public good. In the following, we describe the motivation, context, structure, stakeholders, outcome, and planned evaluation.
