EXPERIENCES OF RISK/COST/SCHEDULE/ TEST EFFECTIVENESS EVALUATIONS IN THE MAT€D OPERATIONAL PHASE

After three years of work, carried-out within a couple of European Space Agency (ESA) studies, the Model and Test Effectiveness Database (MAT€D) initiative entered in its operational phase. MAT€D represents a common repository of project data, Assembly Integration and Verification (AIV) data, on-ground and flight anomalies data, and offers, with the application of suitable methodologies, the possibility to analyze the collected data in order to improve the test philosophies and the related standards. The paper after a short presentation of the status of the MAT€D initiative and its technical characteristics, summarizes the most recent lessons learned resulting from the data analysis and highlights on how MAT€D is being utilized for the actual risk/cost/schedule/test effectiveness evaluation of the past programmes so as for the prediction of the new space projects.
