Emergency ventilation equipment is used to exhaust smoke and hot gasses if a fire emergency occurs in a transit system. NFPA-130, Standard for Fixed Guideway Transit Systems, sets a minimum requirement that fans and related equipment operate at temperatures of 250_C (482_F) for one hour.
