Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)is a new tech-nology in the field of inorganic analysis. It has the advatages of quickness, high sensitivity, simplicity of spectra and capability of simultaneous qualitative and quantitative analysis of multi-elements (including isotopes) in one sample. This paper describes study of trace rare-earth elements of adult human viscera by ICP- MS, selection of optimun instrument parameters and examination of factors causing interferences and effects. Re is used as an internal standard element to compensate for matrix inhibition effect and sensitivity drift. Detection limits for 15 rare-earth elements are 0.005-0.026ng/ml. Recoveries of standard addition are 92.9-111.3%. Relative standard deviations are 0.96-3.07%. On the basis of strict quality control samples of adult human lung, heart, liver, spleen, kidney and muscle are digested by mixed acid ( HNO_3+HClO_3) and measured directly for 15 rare- earth elements without separation and enrichment procedures.
