In this study, we evaluated the effects of instrumental sounds on musicians' hearing in terms of TTS. A-weighted sound pressure levels (L_(Aep)) of thirteen kinds of instruments were measured near the musicians' ear. The values of L_(Aep) ranged from 76.8 to 104.0 dB. TTS was measured following one-hour exposure to eight kinds of sounds. The trumpet sound produced the largest TTS of about 15 dB at 4 kHz. Furthermore, the TTS value following four-hour exposure to each instrumental sound was also estimated by using a prediction method. The trumpet and piccolo sounds could produce about 20 dB of TTS.
