The numbers game is simply a measure of performance. It is a multi-dimensional conceptrnbecause key performance indicators change as product passes through the TextilernMarketing Chain. They range from the numbers of colours predicted to reach market forrnthe Fashion Forecasters and Trend Services, number of lab-dips required to demonstraterncolour achievability for Retailer Colour Development to colour achievability and Right-rnFirst Time performance for the Textile Mill. Colours can also be defined by numbers inrnterms of spectral data or colour difference and can be considered an integral part of therngame and they are the link between all the elements of the Textile Marketing Chain.rnThis paper focuses on the common theme of colour communication and achievabilityrnthroughout the Textile Marketing Chain. Current procedures and protocols are outlined,rnpossible sources of error causing shade drift are identified and the role of “CertifiedrnCustomised Colour Standards” and spectral data in delivering the concept colour to thernstore is examined.
