@@ The Chinese economy is increasingly being driven by innovation, competition and entrepreneurship (Yueh 2008). Governments around the world, including in China, are becoming increasingly aware of the economic and social advantages of an entrepreneurial economy. As Drucker (1985) said: “Innovation is the specific instrument of entrepreneurship. The act that endows resources with a new capacity to create wealth”. With this in mind it is important to ensure that there is a future supply of entrepreneurs in China, and the next generation of entrepreneurs will emerge from the current cohort of school students. This begs the question however, are these students learning the right skills and will they have the necessary potential to become the next generation of entrepreneurs? Currently, there is a lack of empirical evidence to answer this question, and therefore there is a need for empirical research into the enterprise potential of young people at school in China. The aim of this study was to examine the generalizability of the enterprise potential measurement model (Athayde 2009) in the Chinese context, through a survey of the middle school students in the Zhejiang Province.
