The present invention relates to computer-implemented method for predicting a probability of an exacerbation of asthma for a patient, for both severe and moderate exacerbations. The method comprises a step of receiving, via a computing device, a set of input patient data corresponding to the patient; and a step of applying a first supervised machine learning algorithm to a first historical set of patient data that includes data from a first plurality of patients having at least an asthma diagnosis at a primary or secondary care service at a first index date. A first supervised machine learning algorithm is applied to the first historical set of patient data, to generate a first prediction model. A step of applying the first prediction model to the set of input patient data follows, and, the probability of an asthma exacerbation for the patient within a first time window is determined and output.
