The invention refers to the need and possibilities to monitor temperature at critical points in the engine compartment of large engines or other moving, temporarily not moving or fixed machine components, e.g. a device for contactless magnetic temperature measurement on rotating or sliding machine components. In addition, the invention refers to a process for calibrating such an arrangement and to a process for conducting a contactless magnetic temperature measurement on a moving or temporarily stationary or fixed machine component.;The inventive solution uses paramagnetic behaviour by measuring the magnetic field strength of a permanent magnet. As the magnetic field strength of the permanent magnet also changes in the event of a change in temperature, the inventive arrangement is applicable to both a moving, temporarily non-moving or fixed machine component. In particular, the invention is to be used in a pleural repository as well as on running bearings for monitoring sliding or rotating machine components.
