A welding cap for resistance welding is indicated. The welding cap includes a nose, a coat connected to the nose and a coolant chamber. The nose defines a floor of the coolant chamber. The welding cap continues to contain a first lead placed on the floor. The first lead extends from the nose away into the coolant chamber. A cross section of the first lead is formed in such a way that the heat drain from the nose into the coolant is improved.
