Improvements relating to Rotary Burning or Roasting Kilns

Rotary furnaees or kilns; pulverulent-fuel fittings. -Relates to rotary furnaces or kilns, for burning cement or the like, heated by coal dust introduced by means of a nozzle at one end. The nozzle is now so mounted that the jet is directed slightly to one side in a plane perpendicular to the surface of the material under treatment, which, owing to the rotation of the furnace, is inclined as indicated in the cross-section, Fig. 2. The nozzle a is preferably adjustable, so that it may be turned about the axis c to make any desired angle with the axis of the kiln, and also that it may be turned about the axis of the kiln by means of the handle l. The mouth of the nozzle is preferably flat, as indicated in Fig. 2, and the narrow sides may be adjustable to vary the width of the opening.
