[Class 71.] Apparatus for ventilating remote workings in mines and for like ventilating purposes comprises a casing 2, a pair of apertured plates 3, 4 fixed therein, a number of venturi tubes 1 located between the plates and engaged at their ends in apertures 5 in the plates, a box 12 connected to a steam or other pressure fluid supply secured to one of the plates, and a plurality of steam pipes 11 radiating therefrom fitted with jets 9 coaxially directed towards the inlet ends of the venturi tubes. The plates 3, 4 and the tubes 1 are held in position by means of longitudinal bolts 7 and brackets 8 secured to one or each of the plates. In operation, the pressure fluid issuing from the jets 9 induces through the venturi tubes a flow of air with a velocity sufficient to carry it to remote workings in mines or other places being ventilated.
