1326606 Fastening ships hatch covers KVAERNER BRUG AS 3 Nov 1970 [4 Nov 1969] 52318/70 Heading B7S Apparatus for fastening hatch covers comprises an S-shaped hook 9 one end 10 of which engages a peg 3 on the hatch cover 2 and the other end is connected via a pivotal link 14, which is pivoted at 4 to the hatch coaming, to ram 7, 8 which is pivoted to bracket 6 on coaming 1. With the ram fully extended, hook 9 lies below the core 2 but on contraction of the ram the hook swings towards the peg 3, guided by cam surfaces 131, 132 on the hook which run against peg 5 on the coaming. The arrangement is such that, during fastening or unfastening, the axis of the pivot 12 between the hook 9 and the link 14 passes through an extension of the line joining the centre of peg 3 and the pivot 4 between the link 14 and the coaming, i.e. the link 14 has an over-centre action.
