Construction of drain pipes in bottom of manholes - involves using bowl shaped connector made of plastics to receive pipes

A bowl shaped unit (1) with a flat base and of cylindrical cross section is placed at the bottom of the manhole. The unit is made of plastics or some other material which is easy to cut. A semicircular hole is cut in the side of the unit at the time of manufacture to receive one of the pipes to be joined (2). Other holes are then cut on site to suit the positions of the other pipes which run into the manhole. The top half of each pipe is cut away to leave a bottom portion (2a) sitting in the unit.
