Safety device for paper and perforating machine - has two part switch requiring of both of operator's hands

The operator is required to use both hands, thus preventing any possibility of injury from the cutters. A rectangular table (1) supports the machine on a vertical panel (3) wh ich emanates from a rear edge of the table, the machine being electrically powered to cut vertically through paper mounted horizontally on the table. Two horizontal plates (9) fixed on vertically counter sprung sliding rods (10) are depressed by a flap lever (15, 16) to bear down on the paper; the lever axle (16) also incorporating a cam (21) at one end which simultaneously closes the first part (20) of the switch. The operator must then, whilst maintaining pressure on the flap lever (18), complete the electric circuit by pressing a button (23) mounted on the table front, and effect the cut.
