A swimming glove increasing the effective size of the hand pref consists of an oval panel (10) with a pocket (11) for insertion of the fingers (8), a wrist strap (12) at the rear end and a clasp (13). The pocket for the fingers may be disposed on either the upper of lower surface of the oval panel. A thumb loop (15) may also be provided on the panel, and the panel may be bendable in the region (14) at the base of the fingers. The glove is pref made of polymetric material eg rubber or plastic, and may be reinforced with fibre, fabric or wire inlays.
