Optionally alkyl substituted cyclohexanone oximes are produced by reacting the cyclohexanone with ammonia and H 2 O 2 in an aqueous medium optionally in the presence of one or more water-soluble tungsten compounds at - 20‹ to 50‹ C., the cyclohexanone and ammonia being used in excess with respect to the H 2 O 2 . Ammonium or alkali metal salts of tungstic acid or of a heteropoly-acid thereof, are the preferred catalysts.
