Book binding open signature stitching - starts with supply of spine-down open signatures on conveyor carriers to stitching device in lateral alignment

The signature supply order corresponds to the book page sequence, and the lateral alignment is provided by a guide edge. The open signatures are stitched by rotary needles with suitable threads. The thread coils penetrate the signatures from below, due to the needles oblique position, the pitch of the thread coils, and in dependence on the feed velocity. The threads leave the signature(s) in a spacing corresponding to the width of the stitches. Then the threads, which have passed through the signature(s) from a zig-zag connection and are slipped through the individual signatures at several points. The block of signatures is then lowered by the carrier, rectangularly aligned, and its spine glued.
