The district heating system is connected to a piping network, having solar heat collectors at the centres of villages, together with collector chambers on rooves and fronts of buildings. These yield up their heat both to storage and consumer units via a latent-heat or single-pipe system. In winter, mainly the energy from the solar collectors is used, while the storage units absorb the remaining heat on overheating and in the absence of demand. The storage units can comprise sets of items of latent-heat material, such as filled plastic vessels, cushions, waste, etc with pipes between them delivering and extracting heat.
