The compression nail is for fractures of the neck of the thigh. It has a hollow cylindrical housing in which a claw slides, the claw tips sliding out through lateral openings at the distal end. A tightening device is mounted at the proximal end. A sleeve (13) slides, but cannot turn, on the housing, and has a lug (14) for fixing to the bone. A screw can lock the sleeve in position on the housing. The latter and the claw can have an internal screw thread at the proximal end, while a tube can be provided, with an external screw thread at the distal end, to insert and extract the nail.
