The analysing system with a Fourier processor uses test pulses which comprise a series of differing frequency oscillations with amplitude and phase corresp. to a tangential summation function. At the transmission side the test pulse has only one or a limited number of harmonics, while the amplitude values for a larger number of harmonics are obtained rather Fourier analysis of the received pulse from the object. These amplitude values are used to provide the noise interference factor for the line. The system can be used for a telephone or data line, or for determining the quantisation distortion for a PCM system.
