A cooler fan assembly for a water cooled combustion engine, includes a thermal sensor (3) which controls the fan clutch. A clutch collar (8), attached to the belt pulley, provides an axial sleeve (9) whose internal surface makes contact with the friction ring (12). The friction ring segments are attached to a disc spring (2) which is anchored to the fan hub (6). When the thermal sensor expands axially, its movement is transmitted to the centre of the disc spring, thus the clutch is engaged and the fan starts to rotate.
