12 PURPOSE:To prevent wear and seizure at the portions of a compressor where component parts are held in engagement with each other, by employing such an arrangement that an intermediate cylinder adapted for varying the setting angle of stator blades can be oscillated in the manner that no slippage is caused at said portions of a compressor along with oscillation of the intermediate cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The setting angle of stator blades 1 fixed to an inner casing 9 is varied by an intermediate cylinder 5. By thread engagement of a multi-start, trapezoidal screw 16, the intermediate cylinder 5 can be moved also in the axial direction of a rotor 13 while turning in the circumferential direction. Here, providing that the angle made between a line connecting a point a and a point b and the center line of a guide groove 5a is theta, the positional relationship between the guide groove 5a and a roller 4 is rendered consistent with each other in respect of their movement by selecting the inclination angle of the pitch of the screw 15 to be equal to the angle theta, so that it is enabled to prevent occurrence of relative slippage between the guide groove 5a and the roller 4.
