A rotating roundabout has several emplacements around its periphery which are filled except for one with full gas bottles. A crown wheel activated by a jack rotates the roundabout in steps. A steel cover over the bottles prevents their removal other than at a specific opening to allow a customer to obtain the full bottle in exchange for an empty one. The jack is controlled by a pneumatic distributor which also controls the locking jack whose shaft acts on the crown wheel. A probe verifies that the access door is closed while a second probe in series with it checks the presence of an empty cylinder after the exchange process. A third probe sends a validation signal to a cash desk.
