Plant carrying devices with a cylindrically formed wrapper 2a, which surrounds a body of filling material and possibly a seed. The filling material (3) contains artificially produced foam particles or consists of the latter. Also described is a method for producing such devices by continuously supplying at 21 a wrapping material strip 2, by continuously supplying filling material from 11 and possibly seeds from 16 to the wrapping material strip.
