Determining mid-point of electrophoretic image - by adding specified distance to coordinate of mean point of leading edge

Method for determining the middle point of an electrophoretic pattern on a substrate (the pattern being optically scanned in the y direction, normal to the electrophoretic direction x) comprises first measuring the density profile at the leading edge (b) of the pattern. A particular point (b') of the profile is measured and the coordinate (S3) of the mean point (d) in the y direction determined by adding a predetermined distance (do) to the coordinate (S2) of (b') in the same direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is esp applied to albumin and globulin patterns in a serum sample. It allows exact dtermination of the middle point and can be carried out relatively quickly.
