Self-gritting device for motor vehicles for temporarily increasing the road grip of wheels in winter road conditions

For temporarily increasing the tyre grip and friction between the road and motor-vehicle wheels in potentially hazardous situations on icy roads, motor vehicles are equipped with grit containers which are of a suitable size and from which grit can be delivered by the driver via delivery tubes for a short time even while travelling, by virtue of the action of gravitational force, in a metered and track-accurate manner in front of the wheels of an axle. The driver uses a Bowden cable to open and close stoppers in the outlet openings for the grit so that the grit can trickle out or be retained. The grit containers can be removed for summer operation.
