In the fusion of light atomic nuclei (esp. of deuterium and tritium ) in the lattice of a hydrogen (isotope) - absorbing solid body, est. a Pd. electrode (13) which is immersed together with a counter-electrode (4) in an electrolyte (2) while a voltage is applied to the electrodes (3,4) the novelty is that the lattice and the light atomic nuclei are irradiated and/or bombarded with radiation quanta and/or paricles. Also claimed are (i) equipment for carrying out the process in which the electrode (3), esp. of Ti, V, Pd for 1h, modules an alpha-omitting material, esp. Th 227, Th228 Po210 and for Am241; and (ii) equipment for carrying out the process in which a device (11) for omitting radiation, esp. alpha radiation, gamma radiation, neutrons and for the ions, is : is associated with the hydrogen (isotope)-absorbing solid body. ADVANTAGE - The process produces accelerationand close approach of the light atomic nuclei in the solid body lattice so that columb forces are continuously exceeded to allow fusion of a large number of nuclei, thus considerably increasing the probability of nuclear fusion in the lattice of the solid body, e.g. a cold fusion cathode.
