The cooling device incorporates automatic control of the cooling medium jet (8) allowing its position to be corrected for the reduced dia of the grinding disc (3) after the sharpening of the latter. The position of the sharpening tool (11) is determined by a displacement sensor (12) coupled to a control (14) which is used to correct the position of the jet (8) relative to the grinding disc (3). Pref. the sharpening tool (11) is moved by a setting motor (12) coupled via a position regulating circuit )(17) to a numerical control (14) holding corresponding stored setting data for the cooling medium jet (8). ADVANTAGE - Ensures optimal cooling of grinding disc.
