PURPOSE: To exactly code for moving articles by selecting the articles while the articles are transported through an inspection area, swiveling an indicating means toward the positions of the articles and generating a signal reacting with the angular position formed by the indication means. CONSTITUTION: The plural articles 11 are transported through the detection area by a transporting means 12. The slender instruction means 13 has a top end swivelably mounted at supporting means 23, 26, 28 in such a manner that the top end can swivel at least in two directions above the transporting means within the selected range of the inspection area. Further, the means 13 is provided with a means for separating the separated articles from the other articles according to their coding.
