WHEAT RESISTING TO ACETOHYDROXY ACID SYNTHASE INHIBITIVE HERBICIDE AND METHOD FOR SORTING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To provide a wheat by subjecting wheat seeds to mutation with a chemical mutagen such as sodium azide, immersing the resulting wheat sees in a solution contg. an acetohydroxy acid synthase-inhibitory herbicide, thereafter planting the immersed wheat seeds in soil and spraying the same or different herbicide on the soil to allow the wheat seeds to bud, and also to provide a method for efficiently selecting the resistant wheat. CONSTITUTION: This wheat is obtained by: subjecting wheat seeds to mutation with a chemical mutagen such as sodium azide; thereafter, immersing the resulting wheat seeds in a solution contg. a specific kind of acetohydroxy acid synthase-inhibitory herbicide; planting the immersed wheat seeds in soil; spraying the same or a different kind of acetohydroxy acid synthase-inhibitory herbicide as or from that used for the above immersion on the soil contg. the wheat seeds, before fertile buds emerge from the soil; and thus, providing the wheat plant normally budding in appearance with resistance to the kind(s) of acetohydroxy acid synthase-inhibitory herbicide(s) used for the above immersion and/or spraying.
