A traffic information display system contains a map store (2) with road data contg. the start and end points of each street and associated coordinates. A controller (3) acquires the start and end point coordinates in a defined region and converts them into image coordinates. A conversion map preparation device (4) inserts a straight line between each start and end point pair to produce a visual display map. The map is shown on a display device (5) with crossings represented by symbols. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables driver to determine current vehicle position, destination etc. rapidly and easily.
