The method of calibrating a network analyser with two measurement gates for connection to a measurement object involves a first calibration measurement of the transmission and reflection parameters of a reflection-free line, esp. a strip line, of unknown propagation constant between the measurement gates. Three further calibration measurements are performed using the same line and three calibration standards realised with reflection-symmetric and reciprocal disturbances introduced at three different points in the line. USE/ADVANTAGE - Eg for measuring moisture in object between antenna. Accurate calibration is achieved for network analysers with line or wireless connections, including in the millimetre wave region.
