The identification device includes transparent thermoplastic sleeves (6,6',6'') which are grooved to fit on ribs (14) moulded on the inner faces of the tooth pairs (5a,5b). Within the identical upper sleeve bodies, suitably marked tags (7), forming alphanumeric identifying codes, are retained by friction. Each lower sleeve body (6b) is dimensioned to suit a particular conductor diameter. A hollow centre is enclosed by the upper body and flexible side-walls, turned inward and linked by a flat base, which deform to retain the conductor when inserted. Tooth pairs are alternately moulded, slightly cranked downwards on each side of two plates (2,3), hinged (4) to lie close together. The pairs then interlock with minimal clearance (11) to form continuous rows. ADVANTAGE - One comb can carry varying numbers of different sleeves.
