A particle filter system for diesel engines is arranged in the exhaust system and incorporates a pressure transducer, and a control unit for the regeneration burner with an air blower in the gas flow upstream of the filter. The novelty is that the regeneration burner (1) incorporates a rifled air atomiser jet (9) linked to the burner air supply (7) and a combustion chamber (3), and that the pressure transducer (8) is located within the burner air supply (7). Pref. the pressure transducer (8) activates the burner as required and monitors burner air pressure in relation to time and engine speed. ADVANTAGE - The arrangement simplifies the means by which continued correct functioning of the filter is maintained.
