The present invention relates to an inclusion complex of omeprazole and hydroxypropyl- -cyclodextrin for improving the absorption and bioavailability of omeprazole through the rectal mucosa, or a method for producing the same. The present invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition for rectal administration comprising a mixture of omeprazole and hydroxypropyl- -cyclodextrin, and said inclusion complex or mixture. Binding or mixing of hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin with omeprazole in accordance with the present invention provides the advantage that absorption of omeprazole in rectal mucosa is significantly increased and bioavailability is improved.
