PURPOSE: To improve the writing capability by letting students ? successively write the outline of a same sentence, the meaning of the specified words in the sentence, the major point of every sentence and the summary of the sentence. ;CONSTITUTION: The teaching materials are successively provided with a first problem asking the students to write the outline of the sentence, a second problem which asks the students to write the meanings of the specified words in the sentence, a third problem which asks the major point of every sentence and a fourth problem which requests the students to write the summary of the sentence. In the first problem, the outline of the sentence is allowed to be written without limiting the number of words. And then, the students are asked to write the outline employing a limited number of words to learn how to obtain a bird's-eye view of the entire sentence. In the second problem, the students are asked to write the meanings of the words being underlined to understand the details of the context of the sentence. In the third problem, the students learn the constitution of the sentence and finally in the fourth problem, the students are asked to comprehend the entire sentence in a simplified manner. As the writing capability of the students is improved, the students are asked to write a summary without going through the first, the second and the third problem processes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
