An instrument for injecting a flushing fluidinto a patient, and providing means for the return flow of the fluid, consists of a tube (15) with a head piece (2), which is attached to the end remote from the patient. A plug cock is fitted in the head piece with the axis of the plug aligned with the axis of the tube (15). The headpiece has an inlet (20) and an outlet (21) both of which extend at right angles to the tube axis, and are at right angles to each other. A lever (5) attached to the cock plug extends radially outwards through a slot in the housing. The cock enables the tube (15) to be connected either to the inlet (20) or to the outlet (21).
