PURPOSE: To produce a hypereutectic Al-Si alloy casting in which the generation of porosity is suppressed even in a temp. gradient range in which porosity is easy to generate in the case of the conventional hypereutectic Al-Si alloy and failures such as leakers are hard to generate. ;CONSTITUTION: This is a hypereutectic Al-Si alloy having a compsn. contg. by weight, 12.0 to 25.0% Si, 0.5 to 5.0% Cu, 0.1 to 2.0% Mg, 0.01 to 0.02% P, 0.001 to 0.02% Be, and the balance Al with other required alloy elements. Furthermore, a hypereutectic Al-Si alloy casting is produced, and the method for producing the hypereutectic Al-Si alloy in which the molten metal of the same hypereutectic Al-Si alloy is cast in the range of 0.25 to 3°C/mm temp. gradient to suppress the generation of porosity is provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
