PURPOSE: To produce a sound hypereutectic Al-Si alloy casting in which pores are hard to generate in a smaller temp. gradient and cooling rate. ;CONSTITUTION: This is a hypereutectic Al-Si alloy having a compsn. contg., by weight, 12.0 to 25.0% Si, 0.5 to 5.0% Cu, 0.1 to 2.0% Mg, 0.001 to 0.02% P, 0.05 to 0.5% Ti and 0.0001 to 0.03% B, and the balance Al with other required alloy elements. Furthermore, a hypereutectic Al-Si alloy casting, and a method for producing the hypereutectic Al-Si alloy casting in which the molten metal of the same hypereutectic Al-Si alloy is cast at ≥0.3mm/s solidifying rate or ≥2°C/mm temp. gradient.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
