PRODUCTION OF 5 ALPHA-REDUCTASE INHIBITOR BY EXTRACTION AND PURIFICATION FROM THUJAE ORIENTALIS FOLIUM ET RAMULUS

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject inhibitor useful as a therapeutic agent for diseases due to excessive 5α-reductase activity or excessive male sex hormone secretion by extracting a component having intense inhibitory activity on 5α-reductase from Thujae orientalis folium et ramulus. CONSTITUTION: This inhibitor is obtained by extracting a component having intense inhibitory activity on 5α-reductase as an enzyme having important effect on the metabolism of male sex hormone from Thujae orientalis folium et ramulus. This inhibitor, i.e., the above-mentioned component, has significant efficacy on the diseases due to excessive 5α-reductase activity or excessive male sex hormone secretion, namely, Male Pattern Baldness or Androgenetic Alopecia, Hirsute, and Acne.
