The invention pertains to a cordless telecommunication system with backupinteroperability of cordless telecommunications applications, in particular aGAP-specific DECT system (DECT/GAP system) with a cordless base station (G-BS)and cordless mobile units (D-MT, G-MT, D/G-MT) capable of telecommunicationwith the cordless base station (G-BS) via an air interface and greater innumber than the telecommunication channels available in parallel with thecordless base station. To ensure that a multiaddress/group call is possibleand interoperability of the cordless telecommunication applications ispreserved, use is made of a hybrid mode based on a connection-based quasi-multiaddress/group call and a connectionless multiaddress/group call. Thecordless base station (G-BS) is configured to show to which cordless mobileunit (D-MT, G-MT, D/G-MT) a connection-based quasi-multiaddress/group call(GAP call; connection-based call) goes and to which cordless mobile unit (D-MT, G-MT, D/G-MT) a connectionless multiaddress/group call goes. The cordlessbase station (G-BS) is provided with appropriate means (MIC, PGMme) forcontrolling the connections to the cordless mobile units.
