The invention relates to a process for Torsionsoptimierung a variable speed drive via a flexible mechanism for speed-independent load, wherein a PI-controller (2) as a speed controller and an additional speed setpoint smoothing (8) are used. According to the invention (TM) of the drive motor a mechanical time constant (Tm) of the drive system, and a torsion (fe) are determined in dependence of an acceleration test and a predetermined time constant, with which it is the controller gain (VR) and the reset time (TN) of the PI controller ( 2) and the delay time (DLY) are calculated of the additional speed setpoint smoothing (8) and set. Thus, the Torsionsoptimierung can in DC and AC drives with a Selbstoptimierungssystern in optimizing the speed loop are considered, without any increased for the user the effort to give an improved control dynamics in the guiding and Laststörverhalten over previous Torsionsoptimierungsverfahren results.
