METHOD FOR RESTORING FIBULAR NERVE CONTINUITY AND FUNCTION AND FOR RESTORING FUNCTION OF DEINNERVATED MUSCLES

FIELD: medicine; traumatology; orthopedics. SUBSTANCE: as a rule, suture applied to fibular nerve does not lead to complete restoration of its locomotive function, since during denervation period paralyzed muscles are overstrained and their contractile function is affected. Proposed method recommends that application of suture onto fibular nerve be carried out simultaneously with implantation of lavsan-made fixation elements into anterior segment of foot. Lavsan is trade name for polymer known in Western countries as Therylene or Tergal. Lavsan tape is implanted and fixed in form of frame through osseous canals in tibia and metatarsal bones, and through subcutaneous tunnels over internal and external surfaces of ankle joint. EFFECT: optimum conditions are provided to preserve contractile function of paralyzed muscles after their reinnervation; best conditions for regeneration of damaged fibular nerve.
