The chuck has a fixed flange (18) and a movable flange (22) to grip the tool (20) eg. circular saw. The drive shaft includes a tensioner to push the movable flange onto the tool. This includes a spring-loaded drive (26) operating between a fixed thrust flange (28) and a movable thrust flange (30) to enable different thicknesses of tool to be gripped. The spring tension is adjustable via a threaded drive to alter the grip on the tool. The movable flange has a screw mounting on the movable thrust flange to adjust for different tools.
