PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an isolated polypeptide useful for treatment of diseases by microorganisms and assay or the like for detection of expression or activity of MurA by including a specific amino acid sequence or the like. SOLUTION: This isolated polypeptide is selected from a group comprising (i) an isolated polypeptide containing =70%, =80%, =90% or =95% identity to an amino acid sequence of formula I or II over whole length of formula I or II, (ii) an isolated polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence of formula I or II, (iii) an isolated polypeptide which is an amino acid sequence of formula I or II and (iv) a polypeptide encoded by MurA polynucleotide. Furthermore, it is preferable to produce a polypeptide by culturing a host cell (membrane) containing an expression system containing a polynucleotide having ability to produce the polypeptide.
