PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently induce the apotosis of tumor cells by using a specific method for allowing a medicine for inducing GI period apotosis to act on the tumor cells. ;SOLUTION: This method for efficiently inducing the apotosis of tumor cells without affecting normal dells comprises especially dephospholizing the highly expressing variant p53 protein of the tumor cells to activate the protein, thus allowing a medicine for inducing the G1 period apotosis of the tumor cells to act on the tumor cells. The medicine used herein includes 9- hydroxyellipticine, its prodrug or its pharmacologically acceptable salt having been as an antitumor agent, concretely an ellipticine derivative of the formula (R is an alkyl, etc.).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
