PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely reproduce a black color by placing an unexposed part of a developed negative film to a photographing range of an image pickup means by a supply means and controlling the image pickup means so that an image signal from the image pickup means reaches a black level at that time. SOLUTION: A film F is carried from a cartridge 1 in a direction of a spool 2 by a windup motor 3 and a rewinding motor 4, and in the case that interrupters 8, 9 discriminate a first frame of the film F is opposed to an aperture 12a, the film F is rewound by a prescribed amount till the 0th frame opposes to the aperture 12a. Then photographing is started and a CPU 23 sets a state of an image at that time as a black level. Thus, since the black level is set based on an optical density of the base of the actual film F, the effect of the difference or dispersion in the optical density of the base caused by the type or the manufacturing condition of the film F or the like is excluded to reproduce the black color accurately at all times.
