PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten container carry-out/in time to shorten the anchorage time of a car ferry. ;SOLUTION: This car ferry comprises capsules 12 for placing containers 18 on container conveying chassis 19b to accommodate the containers 18 together with the chassis 19b; a hull 1A having a flat upper deck and a flat bottom for placing the capsules 12 to sail and having a ballast tank supplying and discharging water to float and lower the hull 1A; a plurality of capsule support bases 2 provided at specified spaces on the upper deck orthogonally to the hull 1A; and a moving truck having a plurality of elevating mechanisms for placing the capsules 12, on the upper face and traveling on travel rails 3 laid between the respective capsule support bases 2. The capsules 12 are provided with a plurality of container traversing devices 13 for moving the containers 18 together with the chassis 19 in the cross direction of the capsules 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
