PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a zinc substitution film, or the like, giving a dense zinc substitution film having adhesion without exerting undesirable influence on an aluminum stock as the object to be treated instead of the conventional zincate treating soln. ;SOLUTION: An aq.soln. for subjecting the surface of an aluminum stock to zinc substitution in an acidic region is prepared, the soln. contains a zinc compd. by 1 to 50 g/L expressed in terms of metallic zinc and a fluorine compd. by 0.1 to 20 g/L expressed in terms of fluorine ions in the soln., and the pH of the solution is 1 to 5. As to the method for substituting the surface of an aluminum stock with zinc, the soln. is utilized.
